A New Day ... New Doors ... New Places

So we've settled back into our wonderful life in Rockledge once again, albeit both of us have thought we might ought to consider someway to do permanent vacations.  There's still too much work to do around here, to many great friends and family that keep us grounded here , and still more part of Florida we're anxious to discover.

The second weekend we were back we took a hike back out at Moccasin Island Tract again, this time taking the trail down to the south that we hadn't done before.  As we got about 2 miles into the hike we ran into a rain storm and hid out under a big oak tree waiting for it to pass.  As we stood there I heard a rather large rustling sound on the other side of the tree and looked around to see perhaps a 600 lb bull walking not 20 feet away from us.  He stared at us for a good 2 or 3 minutes as I started to climb up the tree.  Tina was somewhat upset that I was leaving her behind.  I figured I was doing her a favor getting up in a position to where I could pull her up if the situation called for it.  Shortly after the long long long 3 minute period he started walking away and I was able to shoot this pic.  Not the sort of animal you want to get into an argument with.

Hello Mr Bull!  He Was Afraid of Me!  :)

Shortly after that we reached a totally untouched area of the St. Johns river.  The only way to see this part of Florida is by foot or airboat.

There is a pavilion in that area used by airboaters and other crzies who walk out that far.  Also on the hike back a colorful Florida native bird tried to make the point that Costa Rica isn't the only place with beautiful birds in the world.  :)

Florida Birds are Pretty Too!

Last Saturday our niece Riley graduated from high-school and on Sunday we had a party at our house to celebrate.  The back of the house still isn't quite ready for party time, but the front of the house still served nicely.

And then finally an update on the house.  As of today we now have the new french doors from the down stairs to the back patio and the new door cut in from the guest room upstairs.  Next week they should be pouring the new patio deck and then finishing off the pool.  The back workshop now has the roll up doors added and has had stucco on it and is ready for paint.

Until next time ... so long from Florida!!!
