New England - Lucky Day 13 - Last Full Day

On our last full day up north we decided to take it a bit easy since Tina had strained her foot the day before.  We went to Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge and then onto Norman Bird Sanctuary in the same area.

I loved catching this bird in the middle of eating lunch ...

 

... which was followed immediately by him looking over at me like I was being totally rude watching him eat his lunch.

You looking at me man?!?

For a late lunch we went to Castle Hill Inn and had lunch overlooking Newport Bay and all of it's sail boats.

So since tomorrows just a travel day I'm going to close out this vacation on lucky day 13.  Until our next time out, keep your birdies smiling.

New England - Day 12 - Tri-state Brother Bob Walk

Tuesday broke out clear and cool, perfect for an inland hike.  My brother Bob drove down from Springfield Mass and we drove up from Newport to meet at a trail which traversed portions of Rhode Island, Mass, and Connecticut.

Out in the middle of nowhere we ran into what Bob identified as a root cellar where a house must have existed at some point.

Towards the end of a 7 mile hike we ran into wild strawberries.  A bit tart but ohhhhhhhh so good.

After the hike we did a short drive over to a local park and had a great picnic lunch which Bob had prepared.
