Day 16 - Cattin' Around Again

Since Tina was still recovering the last time we did the catamaran trip down here we decided to give her a second chance.  Since it didn't leave until the afternoon we spent the morning driving south from here to look at some more of the beaches down on this part of Costa.  Besides we really haven't driven around too much of this country yet.  :)

About 40 miles south of here you hit a stretch of the main highway that winds along the ocean for some 15 miles of so.  You get to see one beautiful beach after another.  We drove all the way to the end and then stopped on the way back to get a closer look at some of the beaches.  This was the road to the first one we stopped at.

Tina - "Looks kinda gnarly".  Tom - "Good thing we like gnarly".

I think in total we stopped at 5 different beaches over a 1 hour period.

The catamaran we signed up for was absolutely amazing.  It took 3 years to build and just started operating 9 months ago.  Costa Rica's largest catamaran has 2 slides from the balcony off the back of the boat, 1 diving board, 2 womens toilets, 2 mens toilets, 2 jacuzzi's, and up to 200 of your closest friends.

The tour actually included transport to the marina.  The bus that picked us up had a couple of girls from Michigan, a couple from Tx, a guy from Denver and 3 gals from Maine.  We all hung out on the boat most of the day and really enjoyed the company.  Here's 2 of the 3 girls from Maine.  You can tell they were pretty easy to get along with.

As you can probably tell from some of the pics we were dodging rain storms all day and it was in fact raining when we went snorkeling.  Well, it was raining when I went snorkeling.  Tina said I was nuts.  What's a little thunder and lightening when you've got a whole Pacific Ocean to protect you.  Anyway, Tina has yet to do any snorkeling down here, which she really isn't missing much.  However, she also missed out on going down the slides and that was a HECK of a lot of fun!

So 16 days down and 5 to go.  It's going to be tough getting back to reality.

Viva mucho tiempo y prospere!

PS - Tina always whines (yes she does ... even if she says it's not really whining) that I never post any pics of her dressed up and in makeup on the blog.  If she'd wear makeup when we hike or zip line or swim or whatever then I'd post pics of her dressed up.  But to keep her from whining further here's the 2 of us last night after going out to listen to music.
