Day 7 - Back Around the Lake Again

So our trip so far has taken from a landing in Liberia (A), down to Tamarindo (B), up to the Arenal Volcano (C), and then on day 7 we drove back around the Arenal lake to get over to Monteverde cloud forest (D).

The distance from the volcano to Monteverde is actually just a short 10 miles, but you've got to drive 60 miles to get there.  Furthermore, the part from Tilaran on in is all dirt/rock roads that are bumpy as heck to drive on.  As such that 60 miles took us 3 1/2 hours to traverse and by the end of it we were more than tired of all the shake, rattle, and roll.

We're staying at a B&B called Hidden Canopy Treehouse.  In the picture on the right the entrance to our room is at the bottom and the top is the common meet and eat area for the hotel.

Walking back behind the main building brings you to a beautifully maintained garden area with ponds and paths throughout.  It's also the location of the 2 additional guest room buildings.

But, as is common at a lot of B&B's, everyone knows who rules the roost ... the owners cats.

This second one is a whopping 22 pounds and they bring him in after 8 at night for fear he might make too tempting of a target to local coyotes.

Today we're heading off to try our skills at zip-lining this morning and then a tour through the cloud forest reserve this afternoon.  Until next time ... chau.
