Iceland - Day 5 - More Waterfalls on Our Way Back to Reykjavik

This is the last full day of our tour portion of the trip.  Tomorrow we head out on our own in a rental car.  Fortunately there were a few really nice stops on the way back to Reykjavik.

Interesting rock formations off the coast line.

The sheep - one of Iceland's mainstays.

Then we arrived at Skogafoss waterfall and it's beautiful rainbows along the side.

Then it was on to Seljalandsfoss waterfall and a hang glider flying around the side.

And then the main waterfall.

A side bonus waterfall.

We then visited Iceland's only geothermal heat and electric power station just a short distance outside of Reykjavik.  By tapping into the water chambers heated by volcanic rocks, the plant supplies enough electricity to power all of Reykjavik and provides 15% of the cities hot water used for heating of houses and businesses.  99% of Reykjavik is heated by hot water tapped from inside the earth from either this facility or local wells inside the city.  It's the only way they can afford to heat 210,000 people cost effectively.

Fortunately for everybody reading this, I didn't take any pics at the power plant.

Tomorrow the second part of our vacation begins.  Until then ...

... stay high and dry.
