New England - Day 1 - Welcome to Providence

We're off and traveling again, this time to the New England area for what will include a 1 week cruise on a River Boat known as the American Star.  But first we had to make our way to New England.  So on Thursday June 18th we made our way to Providence Rhode Island and booked into our hotel in the downtown area.  We are traveling with our good friends Karen Kirkland and Sue Langlois.

Friday was a leisurely day of wandering around and exploring Providence.  It's a beautiful old town which is the capital of Rhode Island and having the state assembly house for the state.

The downtown area has a water front canal area which has floating grates which burn wooden logs at night for special events.  Unfortunately our arrival in Providence wasn't deemed a special event.
