New England - Day 4 - Nantucket

The ship got back underway in the early morning hours and made it to the bay of Nantucket by 8 AM.

Due to lack of an adequate pier, we anchored off in the bay and a small tender was used to ferry people back and forth.  This was the initial view of the town and the harbor from on-board the tender.

It became obvious why the ship didn't pull up to the pier as we approached it.

We did a bus tour around the island.  Nantucket is a highly regulated island with all houses having to be covered with cedar shingles.  This one is the oldest house on the island built in the late 1600's.

On the far side of the island from the main village of Nantucket is an exclusive golf course with houses that few people can afford.

A picture of our boat off in the distance.

And here's Karen getting her daily required dog fix.  I think the dog is pretty pleased with the attention.

By late afternoon we were departing and heading to our next stop at Martha's Vineyard.  Until then, be well.
