I'm going out of order here just to try to stay caught up. It's doing a disservice to the friends we traveled with in September out to do some hiking out in Utah, but I'll try to get back to those posts as soon as possible. It's now December 11th and Tina and I are in Amsterdam getting ready to leave on an 8 day Rhine River Cruise. We flew into Amsterdam a few days early to let us acclimate to the time change.

An interesting fact: Amsterdam actually has more bikes than it has residents. It's the only city in the world with that ratio. Also, 15000 bikes a year are stolen, most of which end up at the bottom of the canals. The city has big canal cleaners capable of picking up the bikes for removal.
During all of December and January Amsterdam hosts a "Festival of Lights". Along the sides of the canals artists from around the world create light oriented art pieces. We did a night time canal ride in order to see these amazing works. Unfortunately a lot of the pictures didn't come out at night, but I did capture a few.
Tonight's our first night on board the ship but we're staying in Amsterdam for one more day. Due to bandwidth limitations I may not be able to keep up with posting once we get underway tonight, but we'll see. Until then, keep smiling ...
